This conference is designed to assist us all to:
- Connect with the Magdalene Archetype
- Learn the history (and origin) of Feminine Western Mysticism
- Explore the impact on the Feminine, now that Magdalene has been ’remembered'
- Find your direct link to the Divine Feminine through dreams, meditation and ritual
Format: One Free Introductory call, May 16th, then one hour each week for four weeks. All classes take place via teleconferencing, with emailed articles and reading assignments.
Free Introductory Discussion: The Background Story Re-Discovering Magdalene
Lila will share some of her personal history over the past ten years in researching and traveling to discover the importance of the Magdalene archetype, her history, and its importance. Traveling from France throughout Israel, the information gathered over these years led to the production of a power drama, entitled “My Magdalene”, and the making of the dvd: Re-Discovering Mary Magdalene.
Class One: Why is the Magdalene archetype important?
The DaVinci code has sold millions of copies. That’s a good indicator that a string has been ‘plucked’ in the Collective Unconscious. Some message wants to ‘get through’ and it will use whatever medium that’s available to do so! Magdalene has an important message for the modern day, both for men and women. We will discover together what that is, and why it may be relevant to your life.
Class Two: The History, and the Context—who was she, really?
Working with translations from 2nd century texts (primarily Gnostic Gospels and the New Testament), we will become familiar with what is written. We will take into account some of the theories that have developed, and discover some possible answers to this question: who was she, really?
Class Three: The rituals and wisdom implied by the early texts
There are extrapolations that can be made from the early century texts, which bring to light certain rituals that Magdalene performed (particularly with oils and anointing). We will speak about these rituals, and you will be encouraged to do some of them for yourself. We will discover where these rituals originated, and find the continuity of their revelation through time.
Class Four: The Mystery
Based on where our discussions and communications take us in the previous classes, we will determine the best conclusion possible to this unfolding story. It is clear that We are All part of Magdalene’s unfolding and remembrance. What are the implications and responsibilities of this?
